7 months old

Miss Ella is 7 months old today!

We have now entered the world of fruit... she wasn’t sure about the sweetness (i.e very funny faces) … the apple sauce was okay and she didn’t like the bananas. We will keep trying them though! Let’s just say if Ella is ever constipated I’ll give her fruit to clean her out! Haha :) So now her menu consists of Carrots, Peas, Green Beans, Sweet Potatoes, Squash, Bananas, Applesauce and of course the usual rice cereal. We have pears, prunes and peaches to try next! Sweet potatoes are her favorite so far!

After a week plus of her diaper rash being gone we decided to introduce wipes back into our diaper changing routine. The next day Ella’s rash was back and spreading. We now know Ella is allergic to the cleansers in the wipes (even the sensitive hypoallergenic ones!). Poor little girl has Mommy’s super sensitive skin. So now we use warm washcloths in the place of wipes and we do lots of diaper free (naked) time.

Her bottom left tooth is starting to make a little appearance. It’s really exciting to finally see some progress with all that drool! She will be so cute with teeth :)

Happy Birthday to Cody!! He will be turning 29 years old on Thursday.

Rash update

Ella is doing much better now... her rash actually ended up being a severe diaper rash. We are doing baking soda baths a couple times a day, cleaning her with warm towels (not using wet wipes at all), giving her lots of naked girl time (which she absolutely LOVES) and after each diaper change we coat her bottom with a thick diaper rash cream and then Vaseline on top of that. Here are some pictures from our day home with her yesterday. Since her bottom is feeling better she slept Monday night and Tuesday night… Cody and I feel like new people! Haha :)



The "adventures" of a teething baby

Ella has had some bad nights this last week.... 5 to be exact! We've been up every night for the past 5 days with her screaming. 2-4 hours of sleep a night; and when you are used to waking up once or not at all at night anymore, it’s a big change and like back to having a newborn! We will get her out of her crib, rock her back to sleep (if we are lucky) and as soon as we put her back down she is screaming again. We’ve all fallen asleep on the couch and in the rocking chair. Her teeth are moving around on the top and bottom and I can feel a tooth on the top. Poor baby :( It’s causing her bad gas and nasal congestion. After reading a lot online about ways to help her… there are not any (besides baby orajel & Tylenol or Motrin) and she has all of the symptoms… even the rare ones of teething (like gas).

Unfortunately, she also got a yeast rash late last week from the antibiotics (from her ear infection). It’s totally common. What happens is the antibiotics kill all of the bacteria, even the good ones and it causes a fungus to grow. (AKA Yeast Infection) We are using an over the counter cream twice a day for 7 days. Hopefully these teeth will pop out and we’ll get some sleep soon?! Ha! :) Until then…. We are a very tired and caffeinated Mommy and Daddy. Good thing she is so cute!! Haha :) It’s impossible to be mad!

Ella's 1st Birthday

Due to popular demand…

Family members have requested that I let everyone know when Ella’s first birthday party will be.  (And YES I have already started planning the cupcake themed event!) It will be at our house in Salem, Sunday July 24^th. Some may laugh but a lot of people already have their summer months booked up.
